About the AT&T Cybersecurity Certified Security Engineer (AVSE)

The AT&T Cybersecurity Certified Security Engineer (AVSE) certification validates skills in planning, designing, implementing, and operating USM Anywhere™. The certification is a value designation of knowledge and skills that demonstrates expertise among AT&T Cybersecurity customers, partners and employees.

AVSE is designed for:

  • Security engineers
  • Security analysts who also require engineering skills
  • Community members who use open source security tools and desire a recognized Unified Security Management industry credential
  • IT professionals who implement, operate, or support security systems
  • Security professionals working as AT&T Cybersecurity resellers or partners

Preparing for the AVSE Exam

  1. Review the AVSE Exam Blueprint. The blueprint shows the specific objectives for the AVSE exam. Refer to the topics listed on the blueprint, and the relative weight given to each topic, as a guide to the knowledge and skills you will need.

  2. Take the USM Anywhere training classes. This step is optional. You are not required to take training classes in order to take the AVSE certification exam. However, we recommend that you take two classes: USM Anywhere: Deploy, Configure, Manage (ANYDC) and USM Anywhere: Security Analysis (ANYSA). Unless you have extensive experience with USM Anywhere, you will likely learn skills in the classes that are necessary on the job and are required for success on the exam. Each delegate who takes either the USM Anywhere: Deploy, Configure, Manage (ANYDC) training or the USM Anywhere: Security Analysis (ANYSA) training receives a voucher to take the AT&T Cybersecurity Certified Security Engineer (AVSE) certification exam at no additional charge.

Registering for the AVSE Exam

  1. Obtain an exam voucher. In order to take the AVSE exam, you need an exam voucher. A voucher is a 16-digit alphanumeric code. Vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date they are issued.

  2. Register on Webassessor. The email that includes your voucher will have complete instructions on how to register.

  3. Schedule your exam as described on the Taking the Exam tab.
